Deer or Elk Steak, the Montana way

Posted by Holly Nelson on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 Under: Tummy Yummy Recipe of the Week
I was really hoping to have my oven working by now. Maybe tomorrow. My plan was to take pictures of the recipe process; ingredients, step by step instructions,etc... I make no promises, but maybe next week. Today is Homemade Bread Making Day. I wanted to show you how I make a very simple banana bread. It's an old fashioned recipe with nothing fancy. Since I can't do it maybe you can! Send in your favorite bread recipe and I will post it here and on my recipe page with your name!!
Now, to the recipe I have chosen. My dad and oldest brother went elk hunting in Montana. They stayed with  "mountain man". This is his recipe. You can cook this in an oven. If you happen to be camping in the wilderness far from an oven like me(just kidding), you can put it in a dutch oven with coals over the oven.

Deer or Elk Steak
~ 2-4 deer or elk steak
~ Montreal  Steak seasoning
~ lots of butter, the real stuff!
~ aluminum foil

1. Tear off pieces of foil large enough for one steak.
2. Lay each steak on the foil and sprinkle with montreal seasoning.
3. Top with 1-2 Tbsp of butter.
4. Fold the foil over and seal the edges.
5. Bake in oven for 20 -30 minutes at 375 degrees.
*Bake for less time if you want it pink, more time if you want it well done.
